Car Seats
1) Why Was the Car Seat/Booster Seat Law Revised?
A: State lawmakers felt the previous law needed to be strengthened to reduce the number of children injured or killed on Georgia roadways.
At the time, 14,154 children (6-8 years of age) in Georgia were involved in motor vehicle crashes annually. Of those, ten were killed, and 1,755 were injured. Only 12 percent of these children reportedly used a supplemental restraint, such as a child safety seat or a booster seat, and the adult seat belt.
Hospitalization charges for 248 children hospitalized in traffic-related injuries were about $7 million. In addition, some 5,111 emergency room visits from motor vehicle crash incurred another $5 million in expenses.
2) Are there any exceptions to the law?
A: A few.
Exemptions:
Children under age eight whose height is over 4’9” or 5’7”
The parent or Guardian has a written statement from a physician that the child has a physical or medical condition that prevents restraining them as required by law.
Exceptions:
A child under age eight and weighing at least 40 pounds is not exempt from the law. However, such a child may use a lap belt instead of a car seat or booster seat when:
The vehicle is not equipped with lap and shoulder belts; or
Excluding the driver’s seat, all seating positions with lap and shoulder belts are used to restrain other children. In this case, the placement of car seats/booster seats should be evaluated to determine if seats can be repositioned to provide the best protection for all children being transported.
A child under age eight may only be in the front seat, properly restrained in a car seat or booster seat when:
-The vehicle has no rear seating position appropriate for correctly restraining a child, or
Other children occupy all appropriate rear seating positions.
3) Are there any vehicle exemptions?
A: Yes.
Drivers who transport children under age 8 in a taxicab or “public transit vehicle” are exempt from the law. In addition, as defined in the Federal Register, standard school buses and multifunctional school activities buses are also exempt.
All of us at 4 My Limo highly recommend our clients comply with applicable laws when traveling with infants and small children. When riding with small children, it’s the rider’s responsibility to provide a car seat. Children age 12 and under should travel in the back seat.
Booster/car seats are available as requested, $20 each.

Our limos are regularly cleaned and checked for any forgotten items left behind. If we find anything, we report then contact the office to return the item to its owner the soonest we can.
If we find an item left behind, calling our most recent passengers (and additional previous passengers if needed) can help us determine the item’s owner. Once the ownership has been determined, the owner is free to stop by and pick up the item from us, or if they choose, we can mail it out to them.
- CALL US IF YOU LEFT SOMETHING –
Sometimes, even “we” scan past items that may have been left in one of our limousines, small items like rings or other jewelry pieces.
